PD Day Camp: Introduction to Coding

These sessions will introduce students to coding and its applications to space exploration using the accessible online tool of Scratch and the scenario of humans in space, both on the Moon and the International Space Station.
Junior Session (Grades 1-5): Land on the Moon in Scratch!
This activity will have students explore themes in space exploration through an introductory lesson in Scratch. First, students will learn how to work with Scratch by exploring a series of introductory games to determine how specific block instructions can be used to run a successful code. Once completed, students will learn how to work with Scratch by following a series of instructions to have a rocket sprite land safely on the Moon’s surface.
