Day Camp: Exploring the Night Sky

Virtual Programming for Gr. 6 – 8 youth interested in STEM and new to the topics of Space Science and Exploration. We will have students exploring the most prominent stars and constellations in the Canadian night sky. Following an introductory discussion on the history of mapping the night sky and examples of various constellations throughout human history. Students will individually be given an illustration of a constellation in the Canadian night sky and be asked to assign a name, shape, and cultural origin story to their constellation based on how someone living in 2021 may interpret it.
